Another day, another word

This is the first time in a long time that I have been able to sit around at home and relax with my laptop and music in the background. My Boston Terrier/ Bulldog at my feet, Stinky, my fifteen pound cat at my side and Gizmo my shi tzu sleeping at the end of the couch.  We are all happy!
Recently I have been busy helping out a family member with their little one. But back to what I love, writing. I am currently have at least ten manuscripts that I have finished. Yes they are all in the roughest form except one. So I am going to work on getting it edited and continue writing.
If your like me, new ideas for that perfect ook hit you in the middle of the night, or even when your at work (which is mostly my case). I am super excited about 2014, this will be my year come hell or high water. I will conquer my writing fears and create a workable portfolio.
What are your planes for the future? Also feel free to read my previous post to choose which story to post via my blog!!! I”m excited to see what you guys will pick.

Movie Review

As I watch My Girl I realize that Hollywood is incapable of making a good wholesome family film in today's society. It's the perfect script. First the characters are memorable and the kind that stick with you forever. The kind that you'll remember. Whoever did the casting here did an amazing job at selecting the right actors for the part. Even though there is a traumatic event that happens, it's the kind that makes you thankful your alive and for your family.

So if you get a moment rent this classic film and have a movie night with your family.

I'll have another post on writing later.....till then.

Back from a hiatus!!!

So it's been a while since I have graced you with my presence. No really, it's been awhile. Well I do have a good excuse. I think. First, I was on vacation in Florida with some friends of mine. Here's a few pics for your viewing pleasure.

This was taken somewhere in TN. Now my friends were expecting to see rather large mountians, but they were sadly diappointed to see these lush hills. You see they have seen realm ountains. As in the Rockies which are much more rocky. LOL.

So after my fun filled vacation I had to return to surgery, which was rather interesting I must say. it has taken me a week to feel myself again, but I still have four weeks of recovery left. I can't wait to see what I can get into.

So while on my hiatus I have viewed several movies both new and old. I have rediscovered Viggle. If you haven't heard of it yet, you need to. It's a great way to earn gift cards for birthdays and the holidays. And all you have to do it put your cell phone up to the television. Here's a quick infomercial:

So in other news. I am still on a quest to add more readers for my blog. But right now I am going to sit back and relax and heal.

Oh and if your looking for some great Christmas gifts or presents for birthdays take a gander at my Thirty One Gifts page. This is a link for an open party. Feel free to order.

A Brand New Show

This weekend I stumbled across a new show called Orange is the New Black. At firs i was skeptical, but gave it a shot becuase it was created by the same person that created Weeds. This is a netflix only show btw.

So I started watching it, it has Jason Biggs, Donna from That 70's show, and the chick from But I'm a Cheerleader. Plus a slew of other top name stars. So I started watching it and couldn't stop.

The situations created were hilarious at best, but understandable for women in that situation. It's a little pushed at times as if the charactes were really trying to reinforce a stereotype. But you can see past that.

The start of each epidsode shows how each main character was incarcerated. Its quit interesting. So if you feel like watching a funny show, feel free to check it out, it's only on Netflix now!!

1st Try

Okay so the first site that I am tryin to get followers at is one of my favorite places on the internet. www.querytracker.com!! It's loaded with lots of helpful information especially if you are a writer, plus you have access to a database of literary agents and publishers at your fingertips. I know there are other sites that off this as well. But it's easy to navigate. So I posted somethin about my FB page, which is MV Miles Author if your wondering. They also have a forum as well, it's where you can post your query letter, first five pages, and even your synopsis. Or just hang out and chat with other members. Take a look you won't be let down!!

Now so far this week I have managed to listen to Jane Austen's Sense and Sensiblity!! Let me tell you if she was writing the scripts for Days of our Live or One life to Live everyone would be watching them. This lady knows how to create great characters and sticky situation resulting in drama, drama, drama!!

As for my music review....I ran acoss Miss Miley Cyrus's new video "Can't be Stopped", I think is what it's calls. Wow, this is so not for children, heck it's not even fo adults. It's basically another attempt to tell us what we already know. She's going to say, do, dress, and kiss whoever and whatever she wants. Yes I said whatever. Judge for yourself, but watch out...I warned you!!

The Host

I have never read the book The Host, by Stephanie Meyer, although I ave heard not so great things about it. When I first saw that it was becoming a movies I was estatic. Especially when I learned that Saoirse Ronon, the girl that played in The Lovely Bones was to be in it, I couln’t wait for the release.  Unfortunately due to life happening, I was not able to see it on the big screen, but waited till it was released on cable On demand.
At first I didn’t know what to think. It was like the move started at the end an then went forward and backwards at the same time. I felt that it was rushed at time and too vague at others. I like the fact that the alien being that was inside humans was truly beautiful and only wanted peace. And they are right we are killing the world and abusing it. So they go that message right on. I didn’t quit like that they were called Souls though, a more imaginative name could have been created. This was probably due to the fact that the book was pushed through production due to the populatrity of Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight Series. It was instant stardom.
The rest of the cast in the move were quite believable, but again they felt rushed in spots. Overall I would say that if you would like to watch a movie just for the heck of it, then put this one on. It might captivate you or it might not. Here’s a clip what do you think?

Time flies when your having fun....

Or so the saying goes. Happy 4th of July everyone. This year it happened to fall on a Thursday which means for most of the world it's back to work on Friday. Fun fun1

What did you do? I had a bar-b-que at my mother in law with some very interesting people. It was fun and I learned alot. One woman in attendance was alive in World War 2!! I hope I live that long.

In other news I sent my manuscript to my editor, a lovely woman out in Arizona! She's awesome and I hope her historical fiction novel is scooped up by a publisher soon.

Sorry for being super busy. It's just that things have hit warp speed. When I was a kid I would sit and complain about how slow time crawls by and now there never seems to be enough of it.

I created a facebook page if your instested in following my journey into self publishing, it's under MV Miles Author..

Now for the fun stuff!!! My movie review today was on a lovely flick entitled "Ruby Sparks" here's a clip...

If you could write a character into life, would you do so for love, knowledge, power? What would they be like? Would you go on adventures or simply stay at home?

It was a great movie and I highly recommend it!!

B is for...

Today's blog focuses on the letter "b". I can think of several kid movies that are awesome and ignite the imagination. I think that's the problem with America these days there is not enough imagination time. Kids are too caught up with the drama of the real world. They need to step back and breath, it's going to be okay.

So I am starting with one of my favorites Disney's Beauty and the Beast!! This show has the great Angela Landsbury as a singing Tea pot, what is better than that. I love the music and still sing along when I wander across it.

Then there's the new pixar, Brave, which I haven't seen yet, but really want to!!

And I promised a friend I would give a shout out to Bolt. You know the one about the crime fighting dog.

In other news I am in the process of getting my novel together to be published via Kindle Fire. That being said I plan on making one more attempt of selling the story to a potential agent!!

Keep your fingers crossed!!

First movies up are...drum roll please....Alladian and Angels in the Outfield.

Both movies are equally great and you walk away with a good feeling!!

Law and Order

Imust say that I love Law and Order Special Victims Unit. It's a great show even though Detective Stabler gets on my ners sometimes. The show is great becuase it's the first of its kind to not always end with a happy ending. You sit down to watch it and before you know it your sucked in wih whatever story they are playing out. Some haneous and some downright ridiculous. I love it!! There is drama, drama, drama, which is what life is about and unfortunatley the lives of those really in the SVU. I don't know how they do it, lord knows they aren't paid enough.

Also the show still exist because crime and deviant behavior affects us all, even thoughs who don't want to admit it. We all have dirty little serets, it's just most of us are not doing things that will get us thrown in the slammer.

So here's a clip enjoy and have a happy Tuesday!!

Remakes

Good Morning All!!

I have abone to pick with Hollywood and it's about remaking movies.  Lat night I had the pleasure of watching yet another one of Hollywoods epic fails on a remake--Footloose. You know this one!!

First off let me begin by saying his move was exactly like the first one. Not much changed, which is weird seeing kids dance like they ewere from the 1980's. I know they say history repeats it's self but geez, this is insane. There was no orignialtiy to it whatsoever!! It annoyed me to no end.

I hope they don't plan on making a remake of The Goonies or Flashdance. WE need to jsut get out own ideas Hollywood. Find more writers like the writers of Dream House or Transformers.

Heres a glimpse in the past and I mus say that the orignal Footloose is so much better.

Cohabitating and Poetry

Good Morning all!!

This moring I am going to chat about cohabiting and my demise at writing poetry.

First cohabiation. I just want to begin by saying that most mornings I am out walking and taking in the calm before the storm of the day. While I do this I phappen to notice that most driveways have three or more cars parked in the lot. I know they aren't apartments becuase most of them are thos older ranch stle home that most older people live in. This brings me to my next thought of cohabiting.

The empty nest has returned hom. I"m sure that are more than one or two genrations of families living in the same house. This is neat becuase in other countries this is the norm. America is not normal in that the child leaves the home and never looks back and in most cases put thei parents in a nursing home when they are not able to take care of themselves. I feel most of the time that's a very selfish thing to do. I plan on taking in my parentswhen they can't fend for themselves. But going back to what I said, parents, living with kids, and their kid's kids makes for a very interesting upbring. I bet if they did a survey on those kids they would find some very striking differences. Hmmm...sounds like a good experiment. Any takers.

Now onto poetry. Last night for class I have to analyze these two pems which were very different but about the same topic, losing things or themselves. it was then that I realized that I cannot write poetry that is good. My poetry usually consist of a bunch of words seperated by puntuation wtih no rhyme or reason. I"m sure there is a specific poem type that I just describe. But I guess, I hope I get better. I use to write poetry for like a minute, but I thought it ducked so I trashed it all. I"m sure I still have the notbook somewhere.

The song of the day!!

Monday Monday

Good Morning out and there!!

Whew!! I am so glad this weekend is over. There were some really rought times, but we made it through with the sun shining!!

More importantly I had to write a poem today about the season and it was on eof the hardest things I have ever done.

I got my two mile walk in today and feel great about ti and looking forward to a GREAT week!! No seriously. I mean I am thankful I have a job, a woman I love, cats and dogs. Life couldn't get better. Okay I take that back it can get better if I had a book deal. One can dream can't they!!

Well this weekend I happend to come across the movie Savages.

From this clip you see that the actress Blake Lively who is most noted for her role of Serena Vanderwoodsen the "it" girl from the upper East Side show called Gossip Girl. I must say that I woul have thought her playing this role, but she shocked me and pulled it off.

Now I'm not going to tell you abou the movie, the trailer covers that. What I am going to tell you about is that if your looking for a semi deranged movie to watch that leaves you quessing watch this. I recommend NOT watching this around childen. Too vulgar and brutal. Honestly is reminds me of a tames down version of Columbina, you know that movie with Zoe, you know the chick that does the voice in Avatar. So that's my Monday Movie Review..onward to work.

Have a great week all!!

Documentaries

Good Afternoon All!1

Today I am going to discuss documentaries. I love them. Whether they are low budget or cost a fortune to make. if I could make one I would. I don't know what I would do it on. Maybe the day and life of an aspiring author.

In the past I have tried to watch at least one indie movie/documentary film a week. Now it's like one ever two or three months. In the past I have watched documentaries about dolphin cruelty (The Cove) and Parking Lot wars! Yes it was about rivaling parking lot attendants. It was great.  I have also seen shows about modeling and food, but right now I am watching one about the Hunger Games.

Another shout out to my girl Jennifer Lawrence, as I stated yesterday was born to be an actress. I love the way that the people being interviewed point out the difference between a star and a actress. They also pointed out why Kristen Stewart wasn't chosen, stating that she was too passive. I would have to agree. Not that I have anything against her. They are two completely different people.

So log into Netflix and get your documentary on.

Movie Review

Yeah, I have finally mastered blogging most days thanks so much to the A to Z challenge and I have also found some awesome new blogs to read and follow. Today I am going to give a review on the movie, Silver Lining Playbook!!

Here's the Trailer:

If you are looking for a fun quirky and interesting movie then this is it!!

It stars Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence. Now you probably already know who these two super stars thanks the The Hangover and The Hunger Games. Ha, just noticed that both of their hit moves start with an "h". WEll I bet you don't know where they got their start.

The first movie I had ever seen Mr. Cooper in was My Wet Hot American Summer, it's hilarious!!
Bradley Cooper plays a gay dude and there's even a "intamate" scene in a shed. It's a great cult classic.

The first time I saw Jennifer Lawrence was in the move called The Poker House, it's a autobiographical fim about the life of Lori Petty, you know "Kit" in A league of their Own. Its areally good film. When I saw it I was like yp she was born to be an actress and will go far!! I was right. She;s practically on top of the world. She's one of my favoirte actresses!!

I definelty recomment it!!

On antoher note feel free to check out the new May special for Thirty One Gifts!!
